U.S. Media Silent As Pipe Bomb Detonates Huge Explosion Not Far From Disneyland

Bomb squad personnel are investigating a pipe bomb that exploded Sunday afternoon in an alley in Anaheim near Disneyland, police said.

EDITOR’S NOTE: Last Christmas, Syed Rizwan Farook and Tashfeen Malik, a married couple, opened fire at a holiday party at the Inland Regional Center in San Bernardino on Dec. 2. Both attackers were killed in a gun battle with police. Farook, who was born in the U.S. and worked for the county, and Malik, a Pakistan national, had an arsenal of ammunition and pipe bombs in their Redlands home. This past weekend a pipe bomb rocked a neighbor hide just outside of Disneyland. Yet you heard nothing from the American main stream media. Why not?

No injuries were reported but some homes were briefly evacuated during the investigation. Officers were called at about 1:50 p.m. to the 600 block of North Anaheim Boulevard near Wilhelmina Street after a report of an explosion, said Anaheim police Sgt. Daron Wyatt.

The bomb, which appeared to be of a metal material, was set on the ground at the base of a light pole against a concrete wall separating commercial buildings to the east and residences to the west, Wyatt said.

It detonated with such a force that “one of the end caps blew a clean hole, almost as if a saw had cut it,” through a wooden fence about 40 feet south of the pole, Wyatt said.

Some minor charring and damage was visible on the concrete wall and pole. People who were evacuated in some homes in the area around Alberta Street were allowed to return to by about 3 p.m., Wyatt said.

Tammy Farrell, 46, said she was inside a home right by the alley when she heard the explosion. “I thought something actually fell from the sky, from like an airplane, because it was so loud,” she said.

Her fiancé Brent Wechsler, 44, whose parents have owned the home for 40 years, said this was the first incident of its kind he is aware of in the neighborhood.

“Some individual that is seriously disturbed is all I can think about,” he said. “All of my neighbors, they are all good people. There’s no purpose for this to take place at all.”

He added, “It doesn’t frighten me. It’s just really, really strange.”

Ana Trujillo, a receptionist at Hernandez Auto Sales east of the explosion, was showing a vehicle to a potential customer when she said she heard a loud “boom.”

“I smelled the smell of burning, chemicals,” she said. “There was a black piece of cloth, a metal piece and a black container and smoke was still coming out of the container.”

On Friday, police responded to a bank robbery on the 900 block of South Brookhurst where a suspect left a hoax pipe bomb, Wyatt said, “but this is completely unrelated. The mechanics are different.”

In December, the bomb squad found a suspicious device on the 300 block of South Claudina Street in Anaheim and detonated it in place. It was also placed at the base of a utility pole, Wyatt said.

“It’s serious – especially on Easter Sunday with people gathering,” he said of the explosion on North Anaheim Boulevard. “It’s very fortunate that there wasn’t someone in the alley that was injured.”

No arrests were made following the incident on Sunday. Anyone with information is asked to contact 855-TIP-OCCS. source
